Retrievers are a working breed, and true to their history, they love to please. Though they can be caught snoozing and relaxing at any given time, they thrive to excel in the sporting world. We enjoy sporting with our dogs and allowing them to achieve great things. Below are some of the sports we participate in with our dogs.

Dock Diving
Dock Diving is a relatively new sport to AKC. Dogs launch themselves off of a 40 foot dock into a pool where the length of their jump is measured.

Fast Cat/CATS
Fast Cat is a Lure Coursing event where dogs are timed as they run a 100 yard course chasing a lure.
CATS is another form of Lure Coursing where dogs run a 600 yard course to chase a mechanical lure in under 2 minutes. Complete with turns and directional changes, it is truly a test of ability.

Rally
Rally is a team sport where you and your dog proceed through a marked course of signs instructing you and your dog to perform certain commands. This judged sport has various levels of complexity, requiring a great bond between dog and handler.

Barn Hunt
Barn Hunt is an exciting sport of instinct and skill, where dogs have to use their nose to find tubes hidden within a course built out of hay bales. The trick? Which tube has a live rat in it, and which has just litter? Only the nose knows!

Trick Dog
Trick Dog is a fun test of skills where you and your dog perform a list of tricks for the judge. Does your dog like to be the life of the party? Well, this is the sport for them!

Conformation
Conformation is the heart of a breeder’s goal. Comparing the dog in question to the breed standard showing quality and perfection within the breeding.
